Very cool. Is this project documented anywhere?
I am always looking at new cool projects to do with my boys.

How long have you had your printer?

Have any of you heard of or had experience with the RepRap?

My son saw me reading this thread and let me know they have one at his high school. He is in a PLTW sequence entitled Pathway to Engineering. This semester, he is in Computer Integrated Mfg, and his teacher has a RepRap at his disposal. He is encouraging the kids to make their own RepRaps at home off of his (I guess you can't buy them pre-made) by learning how to run their own parts. I have no details yet, but this sounds fascinating. Why didn't they have classes like that when I was in high school?

I imagine the teacher will be sending home info flyers home soon for all of us old people to sign or pay fees or both. You know how high school is if you're a parent: any activities worth your kids' time cost extra. IMHO, the money spent will pay me back forever in one way or another.

Now you're talking about the dissatisfaction of a political system, which in name only (democracy), is designed to benefit 'the many', that has been wholly overtaken by an economic system (capitalism) which by design, quite effectively maximizes benefit for 'the few'.

You can be sure that the children of the paid-for politicians and the children of the families who finance the system that keeps the paid-for politicians in place, are all sent to excellent schools (that you have probably never heard of) where there is never any shortage of first-rate teachers, and no limit to supplies and opportunities.

To top it off, in our lower-tier 'public education' it is forbidden to discuss the existence and basis of these inequities, the topic has even been excised from the curriculum, before it ever gets printed.

I have heard of them and I think they look cool but I have no experience with them.
I went out and look at them on some web sites and it looks like a very fun project.

I suppose the first 3 wheel 3D printed car isn't really classified as a car but the Urbee rolled on October 2011. Printed in Eden Prairie, MN. I actually saw printed prototype parts from this car in person, you can do some amazing things with 3D printing.

We have been selling some of our 3 D printed items. Today 10 months since we got the printer delivered we have it made enough money to pay for the printer and the materials and enough profit to buy lunch.

We have a bunch of paid for ABS to keep printing as I buy in bulk. We are happy with this.:)

I've been printing a bunch too with a smaller UP 3d printer (4.5" sq print area). Here are a few of the things I've made. Most are car related because thats what I like to tinker on.

These are molds for 2 part urethane to make intake insulators for cars.

These are shifter shaft bushings for my daily driver. The current ones are worn out and discontinued...

Here is a quick and dirty gauge pod I made for my daily driver as well.

This is a mass airflow sensor housing for a 2014+ Mitsubishi Mirage. The stock one is integrated into the filter housing. You can use this for a custom intake.

It really is a ton of fun to play around with this thing.
