Ted

Buddy of mine got a TED 1001 T.E.D. : Electricity Monitor, Energy Monitor, Power Monitor + foot prints software for Christmas.

Pretty nifty unit, but I think I'm going to have to wait for the next gen that will be ethernet connected.

If anybody has any questions/test let me know I'll try my best to oblige.

Definitely worth looking into more. I have been wanting to look at a whole house electric monitoring system for things the kill-a-watt can't monitor. But, I've heard of some problems with some of the older monitor units and newer digital meters. Thanks!

Upon further reading that device looks amazing. Still not a total replacement for a kill-a-watt, but still REALLY nice.

Small complaint; no back light. Not a big deal.
Would also be cool if it had a small built in re-chargeable battery so you could pop off the breaker the display is plugged in to . . .

We were actually searching for a 1,000 watt phantom load the other night, never could figure out what the heck it was. Got tired of flicking breakers

I wish that the CT's were cheap enough to have one on each circuit.

We were considering hacking kill-a-watts for the job.

Another pipe dream was to loop wire around the load wire to give off a voltage signal (based on amps drawn), calibrate it with a kill-a-watt, then build little led bar graph volt meters to watch each circuit. Would be super cool even if it wasn't very accurate.
