Extreme rainfall

So much for rainfall collection..my barrels have been filled in less than a few minutes...

it's been literally raining non-stop for 3 weeks already, some places flooded and we're getting more than 30mm of rainfall in an hour

welcome to the tropics

Haha.. Does your climate go through an extended dry period as well? Perhaps its time to increase the capacity of the water storage. :)

Exalta-STA 08-06-12 12:57 PM

Hahaha yes it does buddy, its 6 months rain and 6 months summer. its crazy.

If only I could find a way to store all that excess rainwater to last throughout the 6 month summer.

Dig a big pit and use some pond liner, or you could pour concrete... You'd have to pump it out, but its doable.

Exalta-STA 08-07-12 05:34 PM

Daox, That'd be a great project for the summer months. It's too damp and moist to do any renovations at the moment.

Anyway, we received 18.5827 inches of rainwater in 22 hours. Man, it's like a bad remake of Kevin Costner's Water world.

It now makes sense why all the utility lines (phone/electricity/cable,etc) here are located on concrete posts higher than houses and LPG tanks are used instead of gas lines...because of the damn floods...

I just wish the local government would stop using air raid sirens for evacuation warnings. Imagine hearing it while it's raining cows and mules...

"Who the *&% is carrying out an air strike in the middle of this weather?"

Business as usual LOL

These are old pics though...back from the 2009 flood I think.

I'll just go around and see what's up. Man, it'd be great to have a cup of bourbon and some bagels at this time

That is crazy! Have you had much property damage?

Exalta-STA 08-09-12 08:16 AM

We're okay Daox,Thanks for asking!Good thing the area we have here is high and has very good drainage, it has storm drains like the ones back in Cali so my place was spared from the flood.

One thing I hate after floods is garbage.

They got up to 5 inches of rain in a hour in Beijing China, causing the recent flooding there. We are seeing extreme rain here in places around the USA, and in Russia, and in Thailand, Australia, etc. -- and in most countries around the world.
