My 16 inch well kept up with a 100gpm pump for an hour and a half.
The well service said I have a really good well for my area.
12 feet of water and 16 inch bore diameter means I could easily put 2 or 3 pumps down there.

This is not a bad idea!

I watched this video but don't see how he protects the batteries from an individual short. What happens if one battery in the parallel bank goes bad?

I got the first water bill.
$48 for 0 consumption.
Need to get going on the well. Install.

I've been forced into using rain water for drinking and cooking purposes this year due to my well silting up. I am so pleased with it that I intend to install a permanent system. Rain beats well water hands down.

Right now I'm only collecting from a small section of roof - less than 200 sq.ft. It provides more than enough potable water for two people. If I expand the system to encompass just half the roof I will probably have enough water for the entire house.

The roof wash-off sequence depends a lot on where you live and the time of year. Here in GA we get plenty of rain. We also get a lot of pollen and airborne mold. Fortunately the birds prefer to poop in my shop and leave the roof alone.

Unless you plan to filter your rain water you can expect to lose a lot of it in the wash-down cycle. The wash-down time depends on several factors. I haven't yet figured a way to automate it.

It hasn't rained here in over 120 days.

IIRC one of the failings of the Earthship project was the overly optimistic assumption that one could count on rainwater in NM.

I have only been here 6 years and seen it go almost 9 months without measurable rain fall.
Whom ever told them they could design around regular rain fall was not from around here or was playing a cruel joke.
Only one small part of the state gets regular rain fall and it's not anywhere near failship.
