I used coal slag for blast media last time and it was cheap but very dusty and did not last very long at all disposal is an issue. I don't like it very well.

I found a local place that sells blast media. I talked to the owner very nice guy. We made an appointment to go to his business on Friday.
He is going to let me test different media to see what will work best for me. This is so awesome some of the media is more expensive so I can get the right stuff.

One very good thing is a local place is shipping media is very expensive because it is so heavy.

The two choices he thought might work for what I described my use was crushed glass, and steel grit.

I think steel grit might be a good choice.
I am recovering it in a cabinet so steel grit can be reused many times. Very low on dust.
I will try out some crushed glass this is cheap so I will get some of this also.

I ended up getting steel grit 80 grit 200 pounds I also 50 pounds glass beads in case I cut some aluminum.
I used a very expensive siphon feed cabinet. I am so glad I switched to a pressure pot blasting.
That very expensive cabinet could not blast near as well as my setup.

I had ordered 100 pounds steel grit from northern tool for about $200
I canceled that order. I bought 200 pounds steel grit and 50 pounds glass beads for $150 out the door and I got to try out steel shot and a couple things to make sure it would work for me.
I really liked the guy that runs the company they were all very nice.

The steel grit could last 500-1000 round trips from blaster to cabinet.
That is very appealing to help keep cost down. Just keeping me for making trips to pick up media is worth it. My wife usually picks stuff for me but media is just to heavy for her to get for me.

We finally have our sandblast cabinet Speed consistency that we need.
I added an ALC Abrasive pressure Blaster 90Lb blaster. This was expensive but it is USA made and it just works.
We are still using the same steel grit I bought in the last post. We have a vibrator motor mounted to the bottom blaster.
But we only use that when sifting with the screen to refill the blaster. It speeds up the process.
We have two LED flood lights and expanded metal to hold the parts. We added air hose to blow off media in the cabinet.
We have most the other mods people have done to the cabinets. Amazon gloves...
We have put over 255 parts through it this summer.

We are where we want to be I have stopped looking for a good used cabinet.

We have sold almost 100 steps so far.
