HI!

Long time lurker on these forums. I have been inspired to try to figure out how to lower my propane bill for my older home i have with my girl friend.

Welcome to the site.

Did you have any areas you're looking to focus on, or still looking for ideas?

Well I am a Professional Insulator so atm I am focusing on getting the house insulated to the best it can be but I am thinking a heat pump would help out my already efficient propane boiler combo unit

Welcome to the madness and fun! Sounds like you have the beginnings of a journey laid out already. A well planned heat pump will definitely cost less to run than tank propane. With good sealing and insulation, the two improvements could save you more money than they cost in a few years time. Especially up north.

Be sure to research outdoor units well if you are doing an air-source heat pump. The cold climate units cost more initially, but that first sub-zero cold snap will justify the added upfront expense in comfort and utility bill. Being a pro, you probably know this already.

Good luck, please keep us updated on your project.

From reading here there is a pretty good amount of information like using wax to store heat who knew!

As for the heat pump I was thinking ground source but I may go air source because of how my basement is.
