New Mini Split Install
3 Attachment(s)
We are in the process of installing a new 16 SEER Friedrich 11,800 BTU ductless mini split heat pump . This unit indicates it has an inverter drive compressor .
I purchased this system from Johnstone Supply , on sale last week . I should have more than enough copper tubing left over , from our last install ( 2 seasons ago ) . We are putting it in our bedroom . The first photo shows the indoor unit mounted on the wall . I used a 3" hole saw to cut the hole through the dry wall and through the exterior wood sheathing and aluminum siding . The second photo shows the 2 copper lines , the control cable and the drain hose , sticking out the exterior wall . The black drain hose is automotive heater hose I had left from another project . I think it is 5/8" ID . The last photo is showing 6 " flag stones " , 12" x 12" x 3" and a sack of sand . The intent is to pull the flagstones , level the ground with the sand and replace the flag stones . I plan to put the condenser unit in the flag stones , screwed to 4" x 4" pressure treated wooden runners . I have not run the AC power , yet . More to follow . Looks good so far.

Looks good, cant wait to see more. I bet that'll be a nice addition for summer once done. I've been thinking about doing something similar. I just use a window shaker in summer when it gets real hot. Its noisy though, and installing it and uninstalling it is a pain.

How is your install going?
|
I have been working om my new electrical service . Received the green tag / inspection today . Depending on the weather , will try to get it changed over from the old meter base to the new meter base , maybe tomorrow . Then install a rain-tight loadcenter next to it , to feed re-everything .
Ideally , I would like it to dry out some before I start running refrigeration lines and setting the outdoor unit . God bless Wyr |
