Are they asking for the broken unit back? If not, have a go at fixing it yourself. Sounds like a pipe rubbed through/cracked and started leaking.

Quite a bit of interesting info. It uses two Delta evaporator fans with Cindy Wu sensorless FOC (more or less the same as what I'm using in my design!) and a TXV, but oddly seems to use a refrigerator compressor instead of an air conditioner compressor. I presume that is because a refrigerator compressor does better with large compression ratios, with the controller constantly monitoring the compressor current draw (with the Hall sensor) and dialing back the fans to prevent compressor overload. That can be quite a bit at higher ambient temperatures, hence the (relatively) poor efficiency compared to a cheap window A/C.
