Default Fieldpiece SMAN2 and SMAN3

How much easier would it be using one of these tools when setting up a new system?

So I hack a new system together and don't know how much coolant to put in. Can I just hook this up and it will show me how much to make it operate efficiently? I know you can get a subcooling and superheat chart, but for the moderately challenged, this seems like it would be a useful tool.

Are there better ones out there that do about the same thing?

"With the SMAN3 you also get a built-in micron gauge".

It looks like a pretty good tool. I would not recommend something this expensive
for installing a mini-split. It would be over-kill.

One thing DIYers might want to look at regrading the old analog gauge set.

This is a R410A gauge that shows you temperature of the gas (at pressure).
At 217 PSI, the temperature of R410A is 74F.
I'm not sure you can easily find a gauge for R290,
but it should be real simple to make a T/P chart.
