Default Smart house key?

I was talking with my wife the other night about things. The subject of locking our doors came up. For the past 10 months we've had my cousin's family staying with us, so we really never lock our doors. However, they are moving out this weekend and we will now want to lock the doors. So, I jokingly said we should get a smart key system for the house. For those who don't know, our Prius has a smart key. The fob has a radio transmitter in it, and when you approach the car it automatically unlocks for you. My question to the group is, does anyone know of anything like this for the house? I just know I'm gonna forget to lock the dang thing. Plus, it would just be cool.

Well, I have watched tv shows that show that regular locks are super easy to break into and that it's almost pointless to use them unless you have an alarm system. If you don't have an alarm system, then I'd suggest something better then a regular lock. Maybe the Smart key system for a house is a good idea. I don't know.

I guess I'm not real concerned with it being the best lock out there. I would just like it to be more automated so I don't have to deal with the locking/unlocking as much.

Oh No, the computer crashed and locked me out again.

Thats what I would worry about with a smart system - at least those attached to a computer. I know in the past there have been various lawsuits where the lights in a smart house would come on randomly. I think you can get deadbolts for the front door that use a keypad. I don't think those would be too bad.

haha, that would be hilarious.

But, I was thinking something more like this:
RF Remote Controlled Keyless Entry Deadbolt, Brass - RF-01P - Smarthome

I was surprised to find it that cheap.

The difference between this and the car is that the car unlocks the moment you touch the handle. You don't even need to press any buttons on the remote. It is essentially as if the car isn't unlocked if you are carrying the fob with you.
