I just discovered this site and it seems right up my alley. I'm just beginning an earthshelter rehab as my retirement home. Eventually, I intend to be off the grid. I know there's a ton of info for me here. Thanks for having me over. This is my first post anywhere ever.

Welcome to the site Mondo. Sounds like you'll fit right in here. We'd love to see pictures of your house.

You'll need a few more posts until you can do it. Sadly a requirement due to spammers.

Hello everyone.
I am new to this posting stuff, so have patience. A little about myself: I built this solar, passive house in 1980 in south central KS. We have lived here since then. As long as the sun shines, I need no heat at all. Last year I purchased 6 flat plate panels & 4-80 gal. storage tanks from a company that knows less than I, come to find out. I am told that what I get from the heating/storage system is all that I get. Nothing turns on or off, unless I do it. Nothing was ever mentioned by the company about thermostats, switches, expansion/drain-back or the like. So what I want to know is: Info. on what I should now do to get more bang for the bucks that have been spent. |

I'm not familiar with water storage/panel thermal mass systems, but I Am sure there's a lot of knowledge on this site for you. I'm still waiting to close on my earthshelter and get to work. I should sign papers this week. 3 more posts and I can show pics. Sorry I'm not smarter!
