That's a great and simple type of sheet mulching. If your soil is active you may not even need to till it, as the worms, etc. will have worked it in. Adding coffee grounds can help break down the newspaper if the grass clippings dry out or don't decompose quickly.

We're almost done planning our garden for this season.
