Consumer Report’s 25 Tips to Save Money at Home

by Benjamin Jones on September 23, 2008

My partner over at EcoModder, Darin, pointed me to this list on a local ABC news site the other day. It’s Consumer Reports, so it’s simple and to the point, but I find that often times I can get so caught in a project or one aspect of savings that I forget the big picture and miss out on some of that low hanging fruit out there.

The tips range from “turn your computer off” to things like this, which I rarely think about:

20. Drain a bucket’s worth of water from your water heater a few times a year to remove sediment, which can decrease efficiency.

Either way, definitely check it out for some inspiration.
