An AVR-Based Whole Home Energy Monitoring System

AVR Home Power Monitoring

Two of our favorite things here on EcoRenovator are powering monitoring systems and DIY projects. So, naturally, this project caught our eye. It’s like a Kill-a-Watt for the entire home, except completely homebuilt.

I won’t go into technical details, but this device is designed to monitor and log (to an SD card) the power consumption of an entire house. Unlike some whole home monitors that just give you instantaneous feedback, this allows you to see when in the day your home is consuming energy and to figure out what each spike and dip represents.

Check out the project on its own page here.
